WIAW #7 A New Recipe and Other Yummy Stuff

Hi friends! Happy HUMP DAY! I’ve got a new recipe for y’all, so lets hop right into it!

Breakfast 9:00- I had a super simple breakfast today consisting of plain yogurt, vanilla extract, a sprinkle of cinnamon, blueberries, and Kashi Cinnamon Crunch.

Lunch 1:00– Last night’s stuffed peppers left us with about 5 peppers worth of the rice and vegetable stuffing. So I put a bit of that on top of some baby spinach, microwaved, and topped with hot sauce. It was a filling, delicious, healthy lunch that kept me full for a while.

20130807-100433 AM.jpg

Workout (Sorta)- Throughout the day I did the following tabata workout: Burpees, Mountain Climbers, High Knees, Jumping Jacks. It left me a but winded but I did it a couple times an hour just because of the insane heat outside left me wanting to keep it quick and sweaty.

Dinner 7:00- Step-Dad made a super delicious pork loin that I enjoyed with a couple spears of asparagus and broccoli. ’twas wonderful! (Ignore the blurry iphone photo!)

20130807-100523 AM.jpg

Miscellaneous Snacks and Such: I ate about 3/4 of a Cliff Crunchy PB bar throughout the day.

And after dinner I indulged in banana ‘ice cream’ and a small brownie. It was worth it. Trust me.

Now it’s recipe time! I decided to move away from my loyal yogurt mess and drift into my old favorite, oatmeal! Here’s an easy and delicious steel oat recipe!

Banana Blueberry Steel Cut Oats

Servings: 2

What You’// Need:

1/2 cup of steel cut oats
1 banana, thinly sliced
1/2  cup of blueberries (frozen works best)
1 1/3 cup water
2/3 cup milk of choice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
Optional: Sweetener of choice and add ins
What You’ll Do:

1. Take water and oats and put into a small pot. boil water.
2. Once the water is boiling add in spices and milk, stir, and reduce heat to medium low. Cook for 20-25 minutes or until the mixture is thick and creamy, stirring frequently. Take the oats off the heat when there is little to no residual liquid left (depending on how you like your oats, you can leave the extra liquid)
3. Here comes the fun part: Take the sliced banana, pour into the pot, and vigorously stir to incorporate the banana thoroughly. When the banana has almost disappeared, add in blueberries.
4. Serve! Pour into a bowl and top with sweetener (agave, xylitol, stevia, honey) and add ins (flax seed, raisins, peanut butter, almond butter, granola)
5. Enjoy with a nice cuppa tea or coffee.
That’s all she write! See ya on Friday for some facts!

Currently: July

This month flew by! And the worst part is… I go back to classes in 10 days. I might cry. What ever shall I do?! Well, I should write this Currently post. Let’s get that out of the way, hmm?

Current Book Series: The Divergent Series. It’s about a dystopian Chicago where each person is “meant to uphold a particular virtue of humanity: Abnegation (the selfless), Amity (the peaceful), Candor (the honest), Dauntless (the brave) and Erudite (the intelligent). On a given day each year, all sixteen-year-olds take an aptitude test that will tell them which faction they are best suited for, after which they must decide whether to remain with their family or transfer to a new faction.” It has action, violence, love, and it pulls you in within the first sentence. Trust me. I read both Divergent and Insurgent in 2 days.

Current Music: Birdy, Bon Iver, and anything Indie/Alternative.

Current Food: Bananas. It’s the only thing I can really tolerate.  And eggs with a bit of pepper.

Current TV Show(s): Teen Wolf (rewatching seasons one and two currently!), The Pioneer Woman, and Supernatural!

Current Wish List: Plaid skirts, lots of patterned tops and dresses, and boots – black or brown, knee high or low, moto or equestrian-.

Current Blessing: My mother who cleaned me up after being sick, made me food, and didn’t make me move all day. Love you mum!

Current Slang: Nothing this month! I’ve been slang free. That, and I can’t think of any slang off the top of my cloudy, blonde head.

Current Outfit: Oh god. This is embarrassing. Duck Commander tee, glow in the dark cookie PJ shorts, and a bun. I’m so glamourous.

Current Excitement: Beach party on Friday with student body! Meaning I will lay on the sand and listen to the DJ.

Well, that’s all she wrote! Time for some Teen Wolf and homework! Kisses!

Friday Facts #7- A Random Assortment

Happy Almost Weekend, friends! I can’t believe this week went by so fast. It’s a bit depressing since I start school in 12 days. But for those of you who work all year, I’m clapping for you. I work over the summer and a few times here and there throughout the year, so props to those who work 80 work weeks.

So lets get some facts up in here!

1. I’m writing this whilst eating my step dad’s amazing chocolate chip banana bread. It may not be the healthiest, but it has banana and walnut (maybe some whole wheat in there) and it’s delicious. Coffee and blueberry Chobani is also for breakfast!

20130802-090644 AM.jpg

2. Today is actually my last full day of work (that I know of) for the summer! Although I love watching the little cutie pies, I’m glad ill have a couple weeks to really ‘summer’ it up. All nighters, Netflix, killer workouts and more recipes are to come!

4. I love grocery shopping. #sorrynotsorry

5. Steak, potatoes, green beans and yogurt (for dessert) was probably the best meal yesterday.

6. I’ll be posting a Lately post this weekend so be on the lookout!!

Well that’s about it. Not a whole lot. But Lately post and MIMM is coming! Don’t you fret. Talk to you later!

WIAW #6 Girl’s Night Out

Happy Hump Day y’all! Since I don’t want you to wait,  took pictures of what I ate Tuesday, rather then Wednesday (which is what I normally do but I wanted to inform you in case any of you were curious… I bet you guys weren’t).

Let’s begin then!

Breakfast 9:30- I had a student body meeting at noon, so I got up and primped (during summer I don’t really dry my hair or do makeup, but since I had to present various things, I dried and curled and whatnot. I then went downstairs and gorged myself  ate my usual bowl of yogurt. This time: Lemon Chobani, blueberries, Kashi, and flax seed (of course). It was a great way to start my busy day!

IMG_4948

Snack 10:45- I noshed on a plum after about an hour since the yogurt just wasn’t doing it for me.

I love plums. Too bad I ate them all in 3 days.

Lunch 3:15– I went to my meeting which I thought was only going to last an hour, hour and a half tops. Try double that. I didn’t get home until 3:10 and was starving by then. Even though I knew my mother and I were going out for dinner, I still had a good sized ‘lunch’ of tuna salad on toast.

IMG_4950

Workout 4:30- I started with 15 minutes on the elliptical, then did some ab exercises for about 15 minutes, and did a bit more cardio and followed that pattern for a little over an hour. I was dripping with sweat and ready to eat!

Dinner 6:30- Girl’s Night Out was at PF Changs, which is generally where we go since it’s on the same street as the shops and the mall. We did the Prix-Fix menu (you choose a soup, appetizer, 2 entrees, and a small dessert) and picked the following:

Egg Drop Soup

Egg Drop Soup

Chicken Lettuce Wrap

Spicy Chicken, Pepper Steak, and Brown Rice with some Bell Pepper

Tiramisu to share! (It's smaller than it looks but I was pleasantly full after the entree)

I’m kind of weird, but I use the smaller appetizer plate to eat my entree off of. I eat less, and I feel fuller since I eat everything on my plate. I also pick a few more pieces of meat and veg, but for the most part, I eat 1/2 as much food as I would if I ate off the larger entree plate. Just a little tip (;

Well! That is it my friends! Thank you Jen for hosting another great week of WIAW! See you on Friday for some facts!

MIMM #7- It’s Just Another Manic Monday

Hello my little doves! Happy Monday (ignore the oxymoron). I’d say this weekend went by incredibly fast, unfortunately, because now I have to wake up early and work. Although babysitting isn’t too much work. Anyways. Lets do this MIMM! Thanks Katie for hosting again!

20130722-071215 AM.jpg

1. Marvellous is not having to clean my room because if a showing. I slept in on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed my uninterrupted slumber without having to get up and dust and wipe and vacuum.

2. Marvellous is a must needed facial. Thank god for Massage Envy. My skin is now glowing and slowly getting clearer.

3. Marvellous is running again. After 3 weeks without it, I can say I’ve missed it so much. I almost died/threw up but hey, what’s exercise without a bit of exertion. Ill be running all the time now!

4. Marvellous was lunch yesterday! I roasted bell pepper, swaii (a white fish with a very mild flavor and firm texture), some spices and topped the whole thing over some spinach and Kerrygold aged white cheddar. It was amazing.

20130722-071548 AM.jpg

5. Marvellous is makeup! I bought Revlon Just Bitten lip stain (which to me resembles a Clinique Chubby Stick) in a beautiful fuchsia color, a Maybelline Bouncy Blush in Peach Petal, and a bottle of Not Your Mother’s frizz cream. It was, all in all, an awesome little pick me up.

6. Not so marvellous is my lack of pictures. I’m sorry. I was quite busy and ended up snapping only what I could. Including:

20130722-072010 AM.jpg

20130722-072016 AM.jpg A marvellous snack whilst watching HBO.

20130722-072059 AM.jpg
A huge strawberry.

20130722-072124 AM.jpg

A bison burger for lunch.

And that’s about it! Not too much to see. Other than my tears because i couldn’t go to Comic Con. Im a geek. Oops. See you all for WIAW!

Marvellous Update! An oldie but a goodie breakfast of rice cakes with smooth peanut butter, cinnamon, and bananas and a big ol’ cup of joe. Yum

Friday Facts #5: Work, Cookies, and Facials

HAPPY FRIDAY! ‘Tis a bit late in the evening but when you’re working til 5 and you want food… You do what you gotta do. So Friday. The weekend is upon us. I’m actually spazzing out. Not that my diction really accentuates that.

Here we go!

1. My first real week of work has been stressful, fun, and full of baby squeals. I’m content. For the rest of the summer (give or take a couple days) I will be babysitting for the same family. Gotta love it!

2. Tomorrow is open house (note: we are finally selling! So happy that everything is falling into place!) and my mother and I plan on baking cookies. It’s only bribery if they find money beside the chocolate chips, right?

3. I NEED A FACIAL. So whilst the realtor shows the house, my mother and I plan on going to get lunch at Panera (I’m craving me a big ole bowl of vegan black bean soup. I’m not odd, I swear) and then going shopping for a bit. We need to be a bit frugal until the house sells, however, so I probably won’t be buying that Marc Jacobs Hamilton tote with the brown leather and silver appliqués or Lululemon pants, but to be honest, I’m fine with my sketchers and Balance Collection capris. Who needs all that junk, because I do so don’t.

4. So far this post lacks pictures so here are my favorite pics of the week!

Okay. I need to walk my dog. She’s panting. That’s never a good sign. SEE YOU ALL FOR A MARVELLOUS (Redundant) MIMM!
